Baptism is, surprisingly, a controversial subject.  I recently got into a facebook conversation where Christians said it wasn’t necessary because accepting Jesus makes us spiritually baptized so we don’t need that water thing. Yet immersion is a command of God. The question we ask is—why? Since the answers posted have reflected the ignorance of the Word of God extant among pastors and Christians, we post below material from the Word on this subject.

All God’s commands have a purpose. The submission to baptism would be an authorization for God to step into your life and start the purification process. Baptism is a starting point to begin to purify us from giant DNA. The regressive genes would be deactivated and the positive genes would be activated, beginning with baptism.



Many Christians have not even taken that first step, much less completed the process God created. Jesus gave us His body and blood to take for cleansing, not only annually at the Passover, but also frequently so...

As we prepare to observe the Last Great Day, we are preparing to honor our Father Love by grieving with Him at the coming day of His grief as He mourns the loss of the few who will reject His love forever. While a verse exists that declares a baptism was done in Jesus' name, that does not exclude it having been done as Jesus Himself commanded in Matthew 28:19-20. Being baptized only in Jesus' name does not honor our Father. It is not a good way to start out the life of a believer. We should want to eliminate all obstacles to honoring all members of the Godhead and thus not ever getting close to being excluded forever at the Last Great Day.
